Using reCAPTCHA To Stop Comment Spam

Comment spam is more than a jolly nuisance. It is also costly for business to have to deal with it.

But today I installed an effective solution which is not only free (that magic word), it’s also easy to set up. And ‘easy’ is, of course, the other magic word that we all love so much.

First I set up a new WordPress blog at Harmedia.com – and that was as easy as falling off a log because I used Fantastico which is built into CPanel webhosting.

Just now I am finishing things off with a few extra plugins. Including reCAPTCHA which is available free. And as I mentioned, it is so easy to install.

Step 1. You download it from recaptcha.net and unzip the file.

2. You upload the two .php files to your Wordpress plugins folder.

3. Then you go to your Plugins page and activate reCAPTCHA by clicking it. The new page reminds you to enter the 2 big long numbers you got when you registered at recaptcha.net (called public and private keys and they are unique to this one site of yours). That’s it. You’re all set.

WHY I LIKE reCAPTCHA

- It’s free.

- It works.

- There is no messing around with copying code into your blog template.

- No permissions to change. (CHMOD isnt hard once you know what you’re doing but the learning curve before that has befuddled many a beginner, I’d say.)

- A feel-good bonus is the fact that you’re helping the Internet Archive to improve the accuracy of its Optical Character Recognition software.

How so? Because the words shown come directly from old books that are being digitized. Words that the OCR software cannot read are fed into captchas and if multiple users like you and me all render it the same way then that result is entered into the OCR memory.

So not only does your blog get protected from robot spam, your commenters are helping old books get digitized correctly.

Using Logic For Live Performances…

Think about it – everytime you sling Logic into record mode and make your fingers dance elefgantly across your midi keyboard, you are using logic not just to play back but also to record your live performances.

As we rely on editing, comping, quantization and editing so much, its easy to forget that this is live performance but effectively that’s exactly what it boils down too.

So, why not translate this capability to the stage?
The power in the current fleet of laptop Mac is such that you don’t even need to restrict yourself to just a single plugin either – Logic should comfortably play back even demanding single instruments without latency problems rearing their unwanted heads.

Of course, the vast array of third party AU plugins available today means that you can customize Logic to provide you with the soundest which befits your musical bent – just be aware that any third party plugin is likely to be slightly less stable than a Logic one for obvious reason so do some serious road-testing before jumping on stage.

One thing you might have not noticed is its ability to harm multiple channels at the same time. If you setup 3 software instruments, for instance and click the red “R” lights in their track name panes they will all respond to incoming midi data.

So, just like in main stage, you can setup master patches which playback several instruments at once. As you able to restrict the range across this instruments will play in the instrument edit panel on the extra left, you can easily setup keyboard splits too.

Of course, another major advantage of using Logic live is its ability to play audio back while a software instrument is been used for performance.

There are plenty of bands and DJs out there who want to be able to supplement a live set with sequence elements, perhaps takings from well known studio recordings and, without a fleet of keyboard players to painstakingly recreate each and every part, at least some of these elements would have to be run from the modern equivalent of a backing track.

As always, Logic has the answer.

Running a modern backing track is easy these days – simply setup audio track one at the top of your arrangement and load each backing track internet into the arrangement.

Last but no least, it’s a good idea to leave a few bar space between each one and to set a tempo change between a tempo change of each so that each tempo song is matched within Logic.

Surely using Logic on live performances might not seem as easy and straight forward as using other software such Ableton Live, but it is a very exciting alternative and for people who produce records in Logic and also people who love Logic huge collection of effects and instruments this is one mre option to consider when hitting the road.

How to Magnify Your Results by Using the Law of Cause & Effect to Your Advantage!

The law of cause and effect basically states that for every action, there needs to be an equal and opposite reaction. Sometimes the reaction isn’t the opposite, it’s an amplified version of the original action, whether the original action is positive or negative.

An example of cause and effect could be where two people are in an argument, and one reacts to the other with more aggression, and this escalates to the point of fighting and even striking at each other. This type of behavior is cause and effect in action, but in a negative or destructive circumstance.

This could have easily been the opposite, where the aggressor was responded with love or neutral and pressure diffusing response. This could cause the aggressor to then calm down and see there is really no threat to them, so they don’t need to act angrily any longer.

The above is otherwise known as “karma” and every action we make, is either in alignment with the law of cause and effect or out of alignment with it.

If we decide to live our lives in a way that we do right, be kind and spread love to others then we’ll essentially receive it back. However if on the other hand we do wrong by others, it will come back to us either in the physical manifestation or via the “karmic debt” of the spirit.

There is no way to cheat the law of cause and effect, think of it as an invisible eye that records and takes notes on all your actions, thoughts and feelings and repays you accordingly.

So how do we deepen this principal so that the many outcomes in our life are positive rather than what we’re not after?

The answer is simple, yet difficult to implement, but we should strive to live by this law none the less.

To have what you want in life you need to become it!

Bet you weren’t expecting that answer were you? And I’m not saying that if you want more money you need to magically morph into the form, shape and smell of money.

But rather, you need to look at what your goal means to you, and then look at someone who has what you want. They may or may not be role model people, but none the less they have achieved the goal you’re after.

If they are nice people, you might decide to hang around them and learn the lessons of their success and then strive to implement their qualities into your life, but at the same time “please” don’t lose your own personality or good qualities.

It’s more than likely that if these people (even unknowingly, understand the law of cause and effect, yet they could call it something entirely different) they’ll want to help you, because they were once helped themselves and know it’s their karmic duty to repay that debt.

And if you cannot mix with the person that has the goal and success that you’re after, because they aren’t a nice style of person. I would suggest, under stealth, try and study that persons qualities, you’re going to need to be very objective and take your ego out of play to do this, becuase it will be telling you “don’t worry this ain’t worth it” but believe me it is. There’s nothing like studying success to succeed yourself.

The beautiful thing is, as you look and study the person and trying to distill the essence of their success, you might just end up helping them far more than you can imagine. Now this will work in your favour as far as the law of cause and effect goes, as it knows no good or bad, it’s based purely on energy and repays the same energy in kind.

So if per chance you can interact with the person your studying and somehow impact them in a positive way, it could help change their outlook on life for themselves and that will in turn alter their balance (hopefully for the better). As you may notice as you study some highly successful people, who have succeeded “at any expense” are often very unbalanced in other areas of their lives, it might not be apparent to you, but you can bet your bottom dollar they have some form of imbalance and that’s our opportunity to put the law of cause and effect into play.

If we shine our positive light on these people, they will be affected and so will we, it works beautifully all round.

When you look upon shining your positive love, light and peace on everyone and forgiving everyone for everything, you’ll indeed be leveraging the amazing powers of cause and effect.
