Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 comes with two main tools, the Organizer, which enables you to glance at thumbnails of your images and also carry out basic editing tasks, and the Editor which allows access to your photos, is very user friendly and provides you with wizards to help you with your photo edits. The Quick Fix tool on the other hand will aid you iron out glitches in the photos like lighting, color and sharpness. The Organizer will further give you access to tools like Auto Color and Auto Contrast. You may even want to use the Auto Smart Tool which converts poor quality photographs into professional quality ones.

There are lots of new surprises to be found in Elements 7. For instance the Editor contains the Smart Brush Tool, a new Surface Blur Filter and a new addition to Photomerge called Scene Stealer. The Guided Edit has a brand new category that goes by the name called Photographic Effects along with the New Action Player. That apart it is not only the Command Central for the online sharing and backup tools, the Organizer adds a text search capability that makes locating photos that much easier.

The Smart Brush can be found in the Full Edit region of the Editor. It is an amalgamation of the Quick Selection Tool (introduced in Elements 6) and adjustment layers which leads to a faster way of adjusting, enhancing adding effects to your photographs. There are in all 70 effects in a total of 9 categories that can be applied to your pictures.

The Surface Blur filter is located under the filter menu’s blur section. It is adept at softening surfaces while keeping the edges crisp. Expect it to be a great filter for portraits. Scene Stealer on the other hand is a wonderful feature in the Photomerge section. It can actually help you purge unwanted parts of a photograph, without disturbing the background- a stranger standing beside the family in a group photograph for example.

The last part of The Editor has the Guided Edit which is now provided with the ability to adjust to levels found in the lighting and exposure area. The main additions to it however are the new Photographic Effects and Actions Player. Through Photographic Effects you will be able to convert your photographs into a work of art, whereas the Actions Player, which is found in the Automated Actions Section, which really has to do with a set of commands, that can be automatically applied to an image, facilitating common tasks immensely.

It isn’t only Google that is challenging the Microsoft’s on-premise Office and SharePoint productivity and collaboration suites with hosted, online versions of similar applications. Adobe has made a move into on-line document sharing sector. Acrobat announced its community site at the same time when the newer version of Adobe’s Acrobat software with flash player is launched.

Above all, this enhanced version doesn’t need learning an entirely new application, as Acrobat 9 largely sticks to the user interface familiar since version 8.Acrobat Community SiteAdobe announced the launch of the Acrobat.com community site, a move into online document sharing. It helps the users create, store and share documents online. Users can also hold web conferences to discuss changes. At the time, the Acrobat.com service can be used only in trial, or beta, form, but any user can easily sign up.Acrobat community site includes the following online tools: * Adobe Buzzword: Buzzword word processor lets you create basic text documents. These files are stored on the net and invite others to collaborate, read or comment. Such a type of collaboration allows the creation of web conferences, where co-authors can join on and discuss a topic or document in real time. * Adobe ConnectNow: It is a personal web conferencing service, which includes desktop sharing, video and voice conferencing and integrated chat. * Centralized online file-sharing with access controls, online PDF conversion for up to five documents, and support for Web-embeddable documents; * Developer APIs for real-time collaboration, file sharing and conversion.The trial version permits one user to convert up to five documents per month to the PDF format free of charge. You can easily embed these documents on a website or a blog. Adobe also announced that it would make the programming interfaces for the site available so others can plug it into their own services. The services of Acrobat.com can be used without buying any other Adobe products.Most of the advancements in Acrobat 9 provide ways for the users of PDF, Adobe Flash and Adobe AIR technologies to take the advantages of the tools offered in Acrobat.com.In comaprison to Google and Microsoft, Adobe is entering relatively late to the market for business document and file sharing on the web. Microsoft set up a trial version of Office Live Workspace in October 2007 that lets people get at and share Word, Excel and Powerpoint files via the web. Google also runs a similar system through its online documents service. The service pits Adobe squarely against Microsoft, Google and others keen to bridge the online and offline worlds.

As an aspiring digital photographer, I’ve always enjoyed uploading my photos to my computer and playing around with them in photo editing software. I’ve found that I can make my good photos even better, and often times I can salvage a boring, hum-drum photo into something that’s really worthwhile. There are a lot of different photo editing software suites out there, from the ultra-basic programs bundled with Microsoft Windows to professional-level software programs running hundreds or even thousands of dollars. Though there are a lot of options, Adobe Photoshop software has become the standard for many photographers, both amateur and professional, for good reason.

Though it’s sometimes tough to keep track of all of the different versions of Adobe Photoshop software (there have been more than ten), all of them share some of the same characteristics. This is especially true after Photoshop 7, since most later generations of the software have focused mainly on fine-tuning the software suite without introducing any major, earth-shattering changes. One of the key aspects of Adobe Photoshop software is that Photoshop makes it quick and easy to take care of most of the common tasks people want their photo editing software to do. Cropping a photo takes a couple seconds, as does adjusting the light levels, brightness, or contrast within a photo. Even my parents, who describe themselves as being inept with computer software on the whole, manage to crop and adjust their photos quickly and easily. They’re also fond of the different filters or effects Photoshop can apply to photos, from lithograph effects to embossing to solarization, almost any visual effect is only a couple clicks away.

Though many other photo editing programs make simple photo manipulation easy, what really sets Adobe Photoshop software apart from other photo editing programs is the ease of using its more advanced features. Selective color allows the user to home in on one particular color range, be it blues, greens, yellows, etc., and adjust its relative intensity. Editing levels, saturation, and even color curves is also a snap, and Photoshop renders the colors of photos so well it’s often nearly impossible to tell that the photo has been altered when comparing shots before and after editing, aside from the fact that the “after” photo is usually sharper, better balanced, and more colorful.

Though Adobe Photoshop software is usually expensive, especially for the most recent version, past versions of the software can usually be tracked down for a reasonable price. Whatever it costs, Photoshop’s cost can be easily justified when looking at the great photos it eventually produces.
